Bilingual Support Is Helpful, But Not Enough
Chinese-language support can reduce friction for importers and sellers, but it should not be the only selection criterion. A reliable logistics provider should offer transparent quotes, carrier options, clear liability terms, shipment visibility, and strong exception handling.
7 Selection Criteria
| Criterion | Why It Matters | Questions to Ask |
|---|---|---|
| Transparent Pricing | Avoid surprise charges | Does the quote include liftgate, residential, appointment, fuel, detention? |
| Service Match | LTL, drayage, warehousing need different resources | What's your strongest shipment type? |
| Authority & Insurance | Clear liability and risk | Do you have broker/carrier authority, cargo insurance, COI? |
| System Tracking | Reduce manual follow-ups | Can I book, track, and download BOL/POD online? |
| Exception Handling | US freight has appointments, rejections, damage | After-hours support? Claim process? |
| Chinese Service | Reduce miscommunication | Can you explain fees and documents in both languages? |
| Clear Invoicing | Cost control and reconciliation | Do you provide itemized invoices per shipment? |
Red Flags
- Quoting an "all-in" price without listing what's included
- No written BOL, rate confirmation, POD, or invoice details
- Promising "no rebills ever" without verifying dimensions/weight
- Cannot explain cargo claims, insurance limits, or carrier liability
- Everything runs through personal WeChat — no system records
- Prices well below market with no explanation of carrier or service level
